A threshold of dark stone standing where the road gives way to ash.

The Hollow
Not a kingdom, and not quite a ruin. The Hollow exists at the edge of recollection, keeping what the waking world has chosen to abandon.
The keeper
Vesper stands where the lamplight ends.
Some call him a warden. Others say he is only another thing the Hollow refused to surrender.
He gathers objects at the threshold and marks each with a name. He offers no account of where they came from, nor why some are permitted to leave.
